Scooter

The baby has been scooting for a couple of weeks now. And, he gets up on his knees like he's getting ready to crawl. He loves having his freedom and exploring things he's only seen from a distance. The older boys love seeing him scoot too. I imagine he'll be crawling within the week.

What do you feed this baby?

Our 10 1/2 month old has quite an appetite.

And, my older boys love to take pictures of him.

These pictures were taken at breakfast, which is pretty much the same meal every morning. He has yogurt, his favorites are vanilla and banana. He'll also have a piece of toast, and a fruit, either banana, melon, or pears. So, that's not such a huge meal for him.

But today, he ate his lunch and dinner like he was training to run a marathon! Now, I'm not sure on exact amounts, because I kept having to go get more, to appease his appetite. But, here is an approximation of what he had for lunch:
2 TBS cooked green beans cut into tiny pieces
3 TBS strawberries, also cut into tiny pieces
1/4 cup leftover macaroni and cheese
between 7-10 Kashi TLC crackers w/ 2 tsp hummus
1/4 golden delicious apple

Then, after he'd eaten my part of the apple, I got another whole apple out for myself. He started giving me "the look", so I gave him my apple.

A Loooong Time

I talked to my Mom tonight, and she said, "Has it really been since Thanksgiving, since you posted your last blog?" Yep, it has. Why? Just busy I guess.

So, here's the latest:

Christmas has come and gone. How did that happen? It seems like I look forward to it, practically all year, and then before I know it, it's happened, and it's done. Very sad. I love Christmas, everything about it. I even love having my birthday right before Christmas. I never used to like that my birthday was just before Christmas, I would have rather had it in the summer, to space out the presents and celebrations. That was my thinking when I was young. But, now I love that my birthday is almost like an appetizer to the Christmas holiday. I get to celebrate my birthday and then have a big Christmas celebration. I love it more and more each year.

So, for Christmas my Mom and niece came to our home. They had a long drive, but they made it. And, we're always so happy when they come. My niece is 3 and adorable, and sweet, and LOUD! She's so petite, with her dainty face but ohmygoodness! She can out yell my boys, with their hands covering their ears! It's so fun. She is a doll and we love having them here.

We did nothing especially exciting for New Years. The bigger boys had a movie night. I think they watched Charlie Brown Christmas. We have early mornings in our house, so because of that, it's early to bed too, which means short movie night. I'm wondering if a day will come when they'll sleep past 6:30 (which is late in our house) and go to bed later than 7:30. I'm sure that day will come.

Now we are into the new year. School has started up this week and what a week it's been. We're having our 3rd house showing of the week tomorrow. My car (which comfortably fits all 5 of us) is in the shop. And, we had to take our "million dollar dog" to get his stitches removed. It's a very long story why we sometimes call him our "million dollar dog". But, to make a long story short, he's had 3 surgeries in as many years. I'm hoping that he'll not need any more surgeries after this one. I'm not sure how many more his puppy body (he's 9 1/2 years old) can handle, or how many more my husband's wallet can handle. :(

So, I'm hoping for a slower week next week. I am happy to have people want to come see our house, but having a showing every other day, while living in it, and cooking, and raising 3 kids, makes it a little difficult. So, someone could give us an offer, that would be okay too. :)
