We were out of town this past week on vacation. We went to Northern Michigan, which is where I grew up. We had a wonderful time, the boys rode on go carts, bumper boats, we visited my home town, and spent two days at the beach. They older boys loved the water. The baby did too! But, it was all I could to do coerce them to leave the beautiful waters of Grand Traverse Bay to come and eat some lunch. My middle son had to go to the bathroom and I was there with the kids by myself. I couldn't find a restroom. So there's no way I told him to just go in the water. Nope, not me. I'm a huge germ-a-phobe and there's no way I would tell my son to go pollute the beautiful waters that were once my home. Nope, not me!
And, my son didn't misinterpret my directions. He asked, "Won't anyone see me?" It was a cloudy-ish day but there were other families along the beach. I told him, "Nope, no one will see you." Because if he were to just walk into the water, up to his waist, and go, then no one would see him.
So, I scooped up the baby and took him to the blanket and when I turned around, I didn't see my son, standing on the beach with his bathing suit around his ankles, urinating in the bay. sigh .... Nope, not me and not my child!!
What else can I say? I ran over to him, pulled up his suit and quietly whispered, "That's not what I meant!"
sigh...
